Supporting Children in Kathmandu: Zabo Plant Partners with Meerwerf Goes Global

Through education, healthcare, and essential supplies, Meerwerf is giving children the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future. At Zabo Plant, we take pride in supplying the world with beautiful flowers, bringing joy and color to many lives. But we’re also mindful that flowers are often a luxury, accessible only to some. As a globally operating company, we believe in using our reach and resources to give back where it counts. That’s why we’re thrilled to support Meerwerf Goes Global, an initiative making a tangible difference for children in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This October, dedicated teams from Stichting Meerwerf and Noordwest Ziekenhuis headed to Kathmandu to lend their expertise in education and healthcare. They provided essential support to local schools, children’s homes, and hospitals, bringing vital lessons on social-emotional resilience, cooperative learning, and hygiene, as well as delivering clothing and other necessary supplies.
Why Kathmandu? When a director from Meerwerf first encountered the street children of Kathmandu, she saw just how much impact the organization has on the lives of local children. These children share the same dreams and aspirations as those close to home—they want to learn, play, and build a better future. The foundation works tirelessly to give them a safe home, an education, and a chance to grow. But they need continued support to sustain these efforts, which is why we’re stepping in.
By supporting this project, we’re not only investing in a brighter future for these children but also helping to educate and inspire young minds back home. Our colleagues in Kathmandu will share their experiences, stories, and updates with children in the Netherlands, fostering empathy and a global perspective.
